To become a successful BA, one must have the qualities given below:
Ø Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving:
Analytical thinking is just the quick and effective problem-solving approach. It breaks down complex problems into single and manageable components by gathering appropriate information and analysing the key issues. Once you analyse the issues, you then work by comparing the information that you have gathered from various sources and find the best solution for the problem.
DECISION MAKING: It is the ability to take decisions and facilitate them in the organisation. Business Analyst provides the accurate information, tools and techniques to the stakeholders so that they can take proper decisions.
Ø Behavioral Characteristics:
It consists of moral values, integrity, following policies of the organisation, ethics and respect towards collogues. It includes about our work ethics and how a person works at the workplace.
TRUSTWORTHINESS: BA is supposed to be very trustworthy because he is the one who knows a lot of private information of the company. If he passes that information to someone else, then they can use it against the company. So, it is expected that a BA should be very trustworthy.
Ø Business knowledge:
Business knowledge is a very basic requirement for every single person working in an organisation. It is all about how to do a business, basic knowledge of general keys that are used in the business and the information regarding what is happening in the business world.
INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE: It is very important for BA to know about business industry and the role of suppliers, stakeholders, buyers and most importantly the competitors. One should know what their competitors are going to launch in future, their present position and the weaknesses and strengths from their past.
Ø Communication skills:
Communication skills includes how a person present his views in front of other people. Fluency, confidence, knowledge and proficiency in languages are the major points to have good communication skills.
WRITING SKILLS: In every organisation, BA answers and read a lot of mails on daily basis and to make reports of everyday meetings. In addition, he makes notes about the problems and their solutions. So, he must have great writing skills.
Ø Interaction Skills:
These are the skills a person needs while dealing with other people like management, customers and other collogues. It also includes leadership, and cooperation while team work.
TEAMWORK: Being a team player is also one of the roles played by BA. He could be the part of survey team, stakeholder team or many more. So, it is one of the basic requirement for being a BA. He must be good at interacting and dealing with team.
Ø Tools and technology:
These are the fundamental requirements for dealing with day to day problems in an organisation. It includes updated and latest technology, software, and other instruments.
MODELING: Modeling is a very important part in the business sector. So, BA must know how to create a model of any product and to explain it to his team.
